Ain't been riding my Harley much for a couple of years. This spring after losing a bunch of weight and feeling good I got to thinking it was time for a solo road trip around Colorado.
Heading south near Hardscrabble I ran into some tricky road conditions. Saw the sign and still slid into the oncoming lane due to an oil slick.
...luckily the road was empty.
But after a night's rest in Walsenburg a beautiful dawn led to some flat out cruisin' past the Spanish Peaks.
The bike and I both did some wheezing up around 11.5 k feet.
Later I headed toward Lake City and a fine lunch of roast human with a nice chianti.
In the afternoon a run up to Gunnison
past the Blue Mesa reservoir.
Stayed two nights in Gunnison and day tripped up to Crested Butte where I ran into a Knight fighting a Dragon.
After watchin' these guys duke it out and chillin' with some cold brew, I headed back to Gunny stopping by a luddite cabin with 57 channels and nothing on.
The next day I'm off to Rifle along the north rim of the Black Canyon.
And I've got the road to myself...
The San Juans are amazing
Alp-like mountains. I am an amazing ape-like man.
Near Rifle the sky began to dance. Just a terrific week all a 'round.
From here it was straight back home on I-70, but not without its delights and dangers.
I'll throw up another post with a brief description of my narrow brush with death.
